Let me take a few moments to introduce myself; my name is Roy Barkley, owner of S.T.O.P. Service Team of Professionals. Before STOP I was the owner of a successful hosiery mill if Fort Payne, Alabama. But due to overseas competition our small mill was certain to fall as many others in Fort Payne. It is just the nature of the business; get it cheaper in China .
With this in mind I set my sights on a building another business one that overseas competition would not be a factor. Also the present economy is on my mind as well, what industry is recession resistant not even the government can answer that one. Well it was a hard road but I found an industry with all the qualifications. Service Team Of Professionals, also known as S.T.O.P.
S.T.O.P. is a water and fire restoration company that is obviously recession resistant because no matter how the economy is there will be fires and floods.
Also there are no worries about China breaking into this market.
I hope this is enough I could have gone through my life story but I didn’t want to be to long. I have some dates and fact to the bottom of this page if you need some fill in.
Graduated 1985 from Valley Head High School.
I enlisted in the UNINTED STATES AIR FORCE as a security specialist.
Stationed in Ellsworth AFB South Dakota, Osan AFB in South Korea and Eaker AFB Arkansas
I was in direct support of Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.
Separated from Air Force in 1991 with a honorable discharge.
Foreign service allowed me to be a member of the V.F.W. (Veterans Of Foreign Wars) which I am very proud.
From 1991 to present day owner of Hosiery Mill.
